Happy New Year!

Hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas/Holiday (if you celebrate something else). Mine was pretty quiet. We are keeping it pretty quiet for New Year’s as well.
My Zilla on Christmas morning!

I was happy with my presents haul. I got 4 of the new nestibilities that were released and a gift certificate to Oh My Crafts. Which is one of my favorite online stores; they have great prices and most stuff in stock. Oh and usually have coupons weekly! So check them out! www.ohmycrafts.com
Are any of you making a New Year’s resolution? I never do because it usually only lasts through February. I always say I want to lose 20 pounds and of course exercise more. Does that ever last all year long? Oh heck no! Like I typed, February! Lol
I am going to try to keep up with this blog! My ultimate goal is to not only post my cards and projects but to post tips, best buys, product reviews, and my experiences with all things crafting. I am going to be the best blogger there is! LOL Well at least best I can be! I also want to have a challenge each month with prizes and little goodies.
So here’s to having a great 2011. My wish for each of you in the words of Rascal Flatts:
I hope that the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you want to go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,

But more than anything, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but ya never forget,
All the ones who love you, in the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
And you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
And you always give more than you take.
Cheers!

A Poem For Remembering

I received this poem in an email. It says so much in just a few words. God Bless Our Troops from everywhere, and God Bless Each and Everyone Of You.
A Bright Christmas Day

T’was the night before Christmas, he lived all alone
In a one-bedroom house made of plaster and stone.

I had come down the chimney with presents to give
And to see just who in this home did live.

I looked all about, a strange sight I did see
No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.

No stocking by mantle, just boots filled with sand
On the wall hung pictures of far distant lands.

With medals and badges, awards of all kinds
A sober thought came through my mind.

For this house was different, it was dark and dreary
I found the home of a soldier, once I could see clearly.

The soldier lay sleeping, silent, alone
Curled up on the floor in this one bedroom home.
The face was so gentle, the room in such disorder
Not how I pictured a United States soldier.

Was this the hero of whom I’d just read?
Curled up on a poncho, the floor for a bed?

I realized the families that I saw this night
Owed their lives to these soldiers who were willing to fight.

Soon round the world the children would play
And grownups would celebrate a bright Christmas day.

They all enjoyed freedom each month of the year
Because of the soldiers, like the one lying here.

I couldn’t help wonder how many lay alone
On a cold Christmas Eve in a land far from home

The very thought brought a tear to my eye,
I dropped to my knees and started to cry.

The soldier awakened and I heard a rough voice
Santa don’t cry, this life is my choice.

I fight for freedom, I don’t ask for more
My life is my God, my country, my corps.
The soldier rolled over and drifted to sleep
I couldn’t control it, I continued to weep.

I kept watch for hours, so silent and still
And we both shivered from the cold night’s chill.

I didn’t want to leave on that cold, dark, night
This guardian of honor so willing to fight.

Then the soldier rolled over with a voice soft and pure
Whispered, ‘Carry on Santa, it’s Christmas Day, all is secure.

One look at my watch, and I knew he was right.
Merry Christmas, my friend! And to all a good night’

This poem was written by a Marine.
The following is his request. I think it is reasonable…..
PLEASE. Would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many people as you can?  Christmas will be coming soon and a lot of credit goes to our being able to celebrate these festivities.  Let’s try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and gone, who sacrificed themselves for us. Please, do your small part to plant this small seed.

Look At What's Happening At Guylou's Inimitability

Smile is contagious

A smile costs nothing, but gives much.
It enriches those who give it. It takes but a moment,
but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.

None is so rich or mighty
that he can get along without it,
and none is so poor
that he cannot be made richer by it.

A smile creates happiness in the home,
promotes good will in business,
and is the cornerstone of friendship.

It can perk up the weary,
bring cheer to the discouraged,
sunshine to the sad,
and is nature's best antidote for trouble.

Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen,
for it is something that is of no value to anyone
until it is given away.

When people are too tired to give you a smile,
give them one of yours.
No one needs a smile so much
as he who has none to give.
Author Unknown

So it is time to make someone smile. We want to thank all those who entered in the challenge. All the projects were fantastic. The random winner of the Christmas Card Challenge is:

CHARLENE

Congratulations!!

Just like this poem says, a smile is contagious and can really light up someone's day. So this week our challenge is about making someone smile! Here's what you have to do...make a new card with the theme friendship, B-day or get well, use the "SMILE BINGO" card (available below), and post it on the  challenge blog. If you use a GI digi along with the bingo card you get a chance to win a digi of your choice from Guylou's Inimitability Store. She has some wonderful images that you have to check out!
or you can have a look for a freebie in her group on Crafters Digital Art Center!

To save the image on your computer, right click on the image and select "Save image as..."

Here is what I did for this challenge:

I added Bernadette on top and added you make me smile for the caption. I was trying to go for a dramatic look what with the contrast of blue on the gray. This was paper from a new paper pack and I just loved the gray with the white trees. ANYWAY...I like how this turned out. Here is the inside...yes I made it to be crooked, just to be a little quirky!
The challenge will run from today until January 6th at 10:00 P.M. (EST) But you want to get your cards posted ASAP. Then maybe you can get 2 cards entered. More chance to win! Have fun. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

New Challenge At Guylou's

It's begining to look a lot like Christmas, All throughout the blogs, Take a look at Guylou’s Inimitability and check out what's going on, to see that by entering the challenge, you can win a digi that you will love! OK the more I type I see that the idea was there but the words aren't quite right! OH well you get the point! There's a new challenge starting at Guylou's!

This is a big one...you have to make a Christmas themed card! How hard is that? Bet you are already making some of them Christmas cards to pass out! And Guylou has some great Christmas digis that are just waiting to have someone take them home and create something wonderful with them! I made a christmas tag with "Cowboy Snowman". Kept it simple...he dosen't need much to make him happy!

I used really fine glitter on my snowflakes to make them pop! Bad part about glitter is it ends up ALL OVER! I don't use it that often but I so much I need to get rid of it.

Next I made a card with "Chuck the Elf". I used copic #E21 for his skin, painted on smooch spray for his tights and used stickles for everything else! I really wanted this Elf to pop! I think it worked too!

Here are a few close ups!

You can see the bling a little better here! Looks like an elf that can throw a mean Christmas party!

Here is a close up of the charms that I used.

So now that you have seen a few of the adorable digis...don't forget the ones from the blog hop...you know right where to go! No not there..here...Guylou’s Inimitability And I can't wait to see all the great Christmas card I know you are going to create! Hurry don't wait. It will go from today through the 16th of December. Now to win you must use a Guylou's Inimitability digistamp, have a newly made Christmas card or project and you must have had fun doing it! Now for the good part, if you win you will not only get a digistamp from the Guylou's Inimitability Store, but you will get to be a guest designer on an upcoming challenge. pssst that means you get another digi to use for that challenge! Now that's a reason to enter into this challenge. Don't forget to visit on CDAC at http://priscillastyles.ning.com/ always cool stuff happening there!

This next card, I went with the reds and greens of Christmas! I used "Louise with Candycane" isn't she just "SWEET"?

And here is the inside. I fell in love with the candy cane paper...thought it really worked with her!

Well I hope you enjoyed your time here, but you'd better be hopping along! Your next stop is Tracy. Tell her I said hello! Don't forget to leave each of us some love! Cause you could be the winner!

Correction!

Looks like the blog hop is happening a little earlier than we thought! I will get the details and let you know!!!

OOOOPPPPPPSSSSSS

Now don't I feel stupid. I was going to add my cards to the previous post and didn't. Things have been crazy here. Jenna was in the ER on Thursday and I have been spending time with my sister. We don't see each other as often as we want to! Anyway here are the cards I made for the ELEGANT CHALLENGE!

In this one I used Gertrude. I kept her dress white, just outlining with C0 and I colored her gloves, sash, and bows on the actual computer before printing. I know I cheated a little, but I like that look with this card!

I continued the same background inside and finished the sentiment.

I wanted a little more color to this one...so I changed the dress to black and added the pink...we ladies all love a dash of pink in our wardrobe! Had to throw my Minnie Mouse in the mix cause we all know how elegant and glamorous that Minnie can be! Hope that gives a little inspiration to you! Can't wait to see what comes up!

Elegant Challenge at Guylou's Inimitability!

Told you there was a kick butt challenge coming up...here is everything you need to know. I really hope we get some people playing along! It also looks like we might be in for some fun on December 4th and 5th with a blog hop to celebrate the new Christmas digis that will be released! More info to come! On to the challenge:
According to the free dictionary. com, the word elegance is defined as:
eleganceelegancy
n pl -gances-gancies
1. dignified grace in appearance, movement, or behaviour
2. good taste in design, style, arrangement, etc.
3. something elegant; a refinement

Oh the days when elegance was a way of life; when men dressed to the nines and the women wore long beautiful gowns and gloves. I love going to Christmas parties because I get to dress in a beautiful dress, wear fancy shoes and have my hair all done up.

So this challenge will be about elegance. We challenge you to make a card or a project with an elegant theme, whatever way you interpret this word.

Feel free to enter any newly made elegant cards or projects, but in order to qualify to win, you will need to use a Guylou's Inimitability digistamp. If you don’t have any GI images, you can visit Guylou's Inimitability Store or you can have a look for a freebie in her group on Crafters Digital Art Center!

The winner will be awarded a digistamp of her choice from Guylou's Inimitability Store, but that's not all... the winner will also be invited to be a Guest Designer on an upcoming challenge and will get another GI digistamp to make a card or project along with the DT.

Ready....Set...Craft! Can't wait to see all of the fabulous cards that are made!

Happy Veteran's Day!

Time moves so fast thatsometimesyoufeellikeeverythingrunstogether...you want to yell stop...you want to take the time to smell the coffee. Well I am a firm believer in doing just that. Life will get away from you if you don't.

Today is a day for taking the time to remember and to stop and say thank you to the men and women who fight and have fought for this country and so many other countries. I am not fond of war but I believe we as a country had to stand up and say we are not going to let anyone get away with blowing up our people and parts of our lives. I was a lucky person on 9-11 because I didn't have anyone close to me hurt or killed, but in the years since I have found many of my friends and aquaintences who did. I had a customer that fought in Vietnam and I sat down with him and asked him what it was like to come back here back then as opposed to the military coming back now. He told me that he was spit at and yelled at...somethings I cannot repeat and it seems to be happening now as well just not as bad. As we ended our coversation I thanked him, I told him that I appreciate the things he gave up to protect me and mine. And then I shook his hand. There were tears in his eyes when he told me thanks for saying what I did. I feel like I am going around in circles but the jist of what I am saying is...everyday we should remember our military but today especially we should thank them. No matter what country we are from the military is a specail group of people who do so much to keep there country safe! HUGS AND LOVE!

MOJO MISSING!

If anyone has found a little mojo running around; I swear it's mine! I have been working here and there in my craft room but everything is slow going. I even have been putting together cards without an image or idea of type of card (i.e. b-day, anniversary, thinking of you etc...) but I have hit a big wall. I have tried to crawl over it and tried to dig under it but nada, nothing, zippo I'm stuck. I think it's this rut I'm in. Anyway I really hope that you have your mojo and you have a happy day. I am going to go find my longer shovel and see if I can dig out of this rut. HMMMM I wonder if superman is around he can dig a lot faster than me! And if you see tha mojo tell her she's in trouble and better get home soon! Love to you all!

Baseball!

Ok so it's not all about crafting...hmmm wait a second I have made scrapbooks about a baseball game so I guess this still counts! I am watching the Texas, New York game 5. Texas is up 3 to 2 in the playoff series. AND THEY ARE WINNING THIS GAME!!!! It is 5 to 1! Anyone who know me knows I am a RED SOX fan and ANYONE who is playing the yankees. Just to see them go down! WAHOO!

WAHOOOOO I made it!

I just have to say I am officially on Guylou's Inimitability Design Team. I am so excited! First because I love her digis and second I am looking forward to using said digis on cards to showcase. If you haven't been to her store, blog or area in either Paper Craft Planet or CDAC you need to. Go ahead I will wait....(background the theme to Jeopardy).... ok see you found some digis you just can't live without..knew you would. I love the new Shoujo style (pronounced Show Joe) stamps. They are soooo fun and hip. HMMMM is that still ok to say? Maybe hip dates me....Will post more later..wish me luck!

Just Stopping In

I haven't had a lot of time to do much crafting this week. I have started a few cards but halfway through I get stumped. It's probably because I have been working all week. One of the guys is off on vacation soooo I am here pretty much all day. No day off. By the time I get home I am too tired to really accomplish something. Hopefully on Sunday I can get cracking. My in laws are coming in to town next week, so not sure how much I will be able to do then.

Not sure how much everyone knows about my situation...I get severe headaches. They have gotten really bad over the last few years. Now mind you my "headaches" can make me violently ill. I don't mean getting sick once or twice, I mean for 6 hours laying on the bathroom floor because to move makes me sick. I would be down for days! They were worse that time of month. I have been to doctor after doctor. Some say it's all in my head...I laugh and say yup it really is. I have had xrays, mri's, cat scans, acupuncture (sp) and chiropractic care. NOTHING helped. I was told by one doctor that I have degenative disc disease in my neck while another said no...that's normal wear and tear on a neck of someone my age. I have had steriod injections, that hurt! And finally last year I had "surgery". In February Dr. Holland went in and inserted a tube into my neck...from there he ran a laser into the nerve about the middle of my skull on the right side and cauterized the nerve. At the end of March they did the same procedure on the left. After it healed enough for me to feel the back of my head with out a burning sensation (6 weeks) it seemed to have stopped the headaches. It lasted about 6 months total. They came back and came back with a vengence. I switched doctors again...my new doctor and his group specialize in lots of stuff but one of them was headaches. Anyway he has a study that I joined...I take a pill for the 7 days after I start my period and keep a diary of what happens...seems to be helping...I still have headaches but they are not as bad. Don't last as long. Just wondering what happens after the study is over in 2 months????

Bad thing...my daughter has been having the same thing. Hopefully something can be done that will help both of us!

Till the next crafty project is finished!

Congrats to my nephew!

My "little nephew" just graduated from culinary school in Florida. I am so proud of him. He had some issues with high school and to be perfectly honest we weren't sure what would happen with him going to culinary school. I mean school is school right? LOL He surprised us all and finished with a's and b's and is working hard to learn as much as he can from the chef he is working under now. Here is the card I made for him. I took a digi of a boutique and changed it up a bit and added a vintage digi of two chefs. As you can see!

OK darn thing did the same as the last cards.  Anyway I added B and J's to  stand for Brandon (my nephew) and Jeremy (his son). Here is the inside.

Till next time!

Add On!

Here's a picture of Jenna now!
This was her school picture
last year!

Just A New Post

I have been MIA lately...been a little depressed. For those of you that know me know my daughter left last October to move in with her father. We haven't seen each other since January when I went to see her in the hospital and she basically dissed me. Found out she is calling her step mother "MOM" and it hurt me bad. Anyway yesterday was her birthday...14 years ago I spent 21 hours in labor to delivery that adorable little girl.
She was a good baby. Hardly cried in the hospital saved that up for home! LOL
Here's the card that I made for her B-Day! I think it turned out pretty good!
OK don't know why this won't go the right way but there is a close up...I messed up and saved my changes instead of saving as is. And on the computer it is showing upright! Me and my computer issues! LOL I messed up on the poem and in the last paragraph I missed the e in precious! Here's the inside...did the sideways thing too! HMMM Oh well. The inside piece of paper is what the whole card looked like with the Kenny K image on top of the diamond cut paper.

I used SMOOCH on the guitar and clear smooch on the hair, top and pants to make it shimmer. I colored with COPICS but can't tell you the colors I use. I start out soooo well with writing them down then by the time I am satisfied the pens are back in their cubbie! On a great note Jenna called me and will be spending a couple of nights at home next week. She will be surprised at her room because I stole one of her shelving units for my room!

More Cards

Here are some cards I did from Some Odd Girls digis.

I used Nana Split...I used copics to color the image and used (man my mind is not working today) clear
dimension glaze on the ice cream scoops. Then I used Smooch Spritz...but used it with a paint brush
rather than spraying it...over each item and then a frost spray (also with paint brush) around the digi.
Here is a close up of the digi.

This one I kept simple. I find masculine cards harder to do. It seems like there are more little boy cards out there (or digis) rather than teen or manly cards. So I tend to lean to the simple on these.

This is the adorable Tia. I did a couple of these cards for a SOG challenge and didn't get them done in time. I like the Some Odd Girl digis because there is a wide variety of them to choose from. You can find people, animals or food! They are fun to play with!

These are just a few I did for a SOG challenge..these I did enter! Post more later!

My Craft Room NOW!

Ok...I went with teal on 2 wals and a teal funky finish on the other 2 walls. I took the closet doors off and took the clothes rods out. Half of the closet all ready had shelves and the other half has a middle shelf. We thought about going hardwood but it was a little more than we wanted to spend. Soooo I bought shelves (Lowes) for one side and a tall table (Target) with the ends that are book shelves. The rest of the stuff is just odds and ends that I have gotten over the years!

First picture with my little Zilla there is taken from the doorway, the second is doorway turned toward the right and there is the closet! In the first picture you can see the side of my table!

Taking you for a walk through my room! This is the wall straight ahead! I have my ink pads, ribbons, flowers, albums, and across the top I have cases that are all labeled with various stuff in them. Like wedding, dogs, etc... Across the bottom of the wall I have my stamp cabinet, and different little cubbies. OH and my favorite...my color cubbies for my copics! Got them for my B-DAY! Here's a close up.

Love this! It was the best money I have ever spent...except for my tall table. LOVE that too! But this is perfect and I can turn around where I sit at the table and BAMB there are my markers!

This is the corner going around the room. This is my desk with my printers to the right, right under the window. The 3 boards (left and right of shelf) are actually peg boards.

Now here is the cabinet closed and open. Yes I know it is self explainitory! HMMM did I spell that right? Oh well. Looks funny! My 12 x 12 papers are in here as well as my 8 x 8 pads of paper. Don't cha just love my giant Mickey Mouse. I got him from Dave and the kids a few years ago at Disney Land.

Hey there are my cubes with my making memories thingy above it. I made my film strip across the top of the wall. It has all my family pictures. It turned out pretty cool.

And then there is my table...it's about 40" tall and has the bookcase on both ends. I have room to spread out or room for another person on the other side. I think I am set with my arranging! Hopefully. Don't think my back can take any more moving!
