Happy New Year!

Hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas/Holiday (if you celebrate something else). Mine was pretty quiet. We are keeping it pretty quiet for New Year’s as well.
My Zilla on Christmas morning!

I was happy with my presents haul. I got 4 of the new nestibilities that were released and a gift certificate to Oh My Crafts. Which is one of my favorite online stores; they have great prices and most stuff in stock. Oh and usually have coupons weekly! So check them out! www.ohmycrafts.com
Are any of you making a New Year’s resolution? I never do because it usually only lasts through February. I always say I want to lose 20 pounds and of course exercise more. Does that ever last all year long? Oh heck no! Like I typed, February! Lol
I am going to try to keep up with this blog! My ultimate goal is to not only post my cards and projects but to post tips, best buys, product reviews, and my experiences with all things crafting. I am going to be the best blogger there is! LOL Well at least best I can be! I also want to have a challenge each month with prizes and little goodies.
So here’s to having a great 2011. My wish for each of you in the words of Rascal Flatts:
I hope that the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you want to go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,

But more than anything, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but ya never forget,
All the ones who love you, in the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
And you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
And you always give more than you take.
Cheers!

A Poem For Remembering

I received this poem in an email. It says so much in just a few words. God Bless Our Troops from everywhere, and God Bless Each and Everyone Of You.
A Bright Christmas Day

T’was the night before Christmas, he lived all alone
In a one-bedroom house made of plaster and stone.

I had come down the chimney with presents to give
And to see just who in this home did live.

I looked all about, a strange sight I did see
No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.

No stocking by mantle, just boots filled with sand
On the wall hung pictures of far distant lands.

With medals and badges, awards of all kinds
A sober thought came through my mind.

For this house was different, it was dark and dreary
I found the home of a soldier, once I could see clearly.

The soldier lay sleeping, silent, alone
Curled up on the floor in this one bedroom home.
The face was so gentle, the room in such disorder
Not how I pictured a United States soldier.

Was this the hero of whom I’d just read?
Curled up on a poncho, the floor for a bed?

I realized the families that I saw this night
Owed their lives to these soldiers who were willing to fight.

Soon round the world the children would play
And grownups would celebrate a bright Christmas day.

They all enjoyed freedom each month of the year
Because of the soldiers, like the one lying here.

I couldn’t help wonder how many lay alone
On a cold Christmas Eve in a land far from home

The very thought brought a tear to my eye,
I dropped to my knees and started to cry.

The soldier awakened and I heard a rough voice
Santa don’t cry, this life is my choice.

I fight for freedom, I don’t ask for more
My life is my God, my country, my corps.
The soldier rolled over and drifted to sleep
I couldn’t control it, I continued to weep.

I kept watch for hours, so silent and still
And we both shivered from the cold night’s chill.

I didn’t want to leave on that cold, dark, night
This guardian of honor so willing to fight.

Then the soldier rolled over with a voice soft and pure
Whispered, ‘Carry on Santa, it’s Christmas Day, all is secure.

One look at my watch, and I knew he was right.
Merry Christmas, my friend! And to all a good night’

This poem was written by a Marine.
The following is his request. I think it is reasonable…..
PLEASE. Would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many people as you can?  Christmas will be coming soon and a lot of credit goes to our being able to celebrate these festivities.  Let’s try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and gone, who sacrificed themselves for us. Please, do your small part to plant this small seed.

Look At What's Happening At Guylou's Inimitability

Smile is contagious

A smile costs nothing, but gives much.
It enriches those who give it. It takes but a moment,
but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.

None is so rich or mighty
that he can get along without it,
and none is so poor
that he cannot be made richer by it.

A smile creates happiness in the home,
promotes good will in business,
and is the cornerstone of friendship.

It can perk up the weary,
bring cheer to the discouraged,
sunshine to the sad,
and is nature's best antidote for trouble.

Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen,
for it is something that is of no value to anyone
until it is given away.

When people are too tired to give you a smile,
give them one of yours.
No one needs a smile so much
as he who has none to give.

So it is time to make someone smile. We want to thank all those who entered in the challenge. All the projects were fantastic. The random winner of the Christmas Card Challenge is:

CHARLENE

Congratulations!!

Just like this poem says, a smile is contagious and can really light up someone's day. So this week our challenge is about making someone smile! Here's what you have to do...make a new card with the theme friendship, B-day or get well, use the "SMILE BINGO" card (available below), and post it on the  challenge blog. If you use a GI digi along with the bingo card you get a chance to win a digi of your choice from Guylou's Inimitability Store. She has some wonderful images that you have to check out!
or you can have a look for a freebie in her group on Crafters Digital Art Center!

To save the image on your computer, right click on the image and select "Save image as..."

Here is what I did for this challenge:

I added Bernadette on top and added you make me smile for the caption. I was trying to go for a dramatic look what with the contrast of blue on the gray. This was paper from a new paper pack and I just loved the gray with the white trees. ANYWAY...I like how this turned out. Here is the inside...yes I made it to be crooked, just to be a little quirky!
The challenge will run from today until January 6th at 10:00 P.M. (EST) But you want to get your cards posted ASAP. Then maybe you can get 2 cards entered. More chance to win! Have fun. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

New Challenge At Guylou's

It's begining to look a lot like Christmas, All throughout the blogs, Take a look at Guylou’s Inimitability and check out what's going on, to see that by entering the challenge, you can win a digi that you will love! OK the more I type I see that the idea was there but the words aren't quite right! OH well you get the point! There's a new challenge starting at Guylou's!

This is a big one...you have to make a Christmas themed card! How hard is that? Bet you are already making some of them Christmas cards to pass out! And Guylou has some great Christmas digis that are just waiting to have someone take them home and create something wonderful with them! I made a christmas tag with "Cowboy Snowman". Kept it simple...he dosen't need much to make him happy!

I used really fine glitter on my snowflakes to make them pop! Bad part about glitter is it ends up ALL OVER! I don't use it that often but I so much I need to get rid of it.

Next I made a card with "Chuck the Elf". I used copic #E21 for his skin, painted on smooch spray for his tights and used stickles for everything else! I really wanted this Elf to pop! I think it worked too!

Here are a few close ups!

You can see the bling a little better here! Looks like an elf that can throw a mean Christmas party!

Here is a close up of the charms that I used.

So now that you have seen a few of the adorable digis...don't forget the ones from the blog hop...you know right where to go! No not there..here...Guylou’s Inimitability And I can't wait to see all the great Christmas card I know you are going to create! Hurry don't wait. It will go from today through the 16th of December. Now to win you must use a Guylou's Inimitability digistamp, have a newly made Christmas card or project and you must have had fun doing it! Now for the good part, if you win you will not only get a digistamp from the Guylou's Inimitability Store, but you will get to be a guest designer on an upcoming challenge. pssst that means you get another digi to use for that challenge! Now that's a reason to enter into this challenge. Don't forget to visit on CDAC at http://priscillastyles.ning.com/ always cool stuff happening there!
