Let's Swing

WOW I am finally getting some stuff posted!
Here is a card that I made using one of my "The Paper Shelter" images.
I fell in love with their images when I was surfing digital sites one day.
If you haven't checked them out, you need to!
Here is a card that I made using "Spring Swing".
I hope you like it. You know how you finish a card, then look at it and think to yourself...
"Something is missing...but what?"
Well I did that with this one. I just felt like it needed something, but no clue what!
So I added a bit of wire looped into a bow and added some beads.
I used some paper from my Cordinations Black Magic pack and patterned paper from
one of my minds eye paper packs.

I want to enter this card into these challenges:

The Paper Shelter        Anything Goes
Lexi's Creations           A Card For A Child
Crafty Ribbons            Anything Goes

True Love!

I got this wonderful image from Sassy Studio Designs called "Romeo and Juliet". And I love it! I made this card for a friends anniversary (20th) using their hair color for the image! I added mini scrabble pieces and I think it is a double word score!

This is the inside that I left blank so she could write her own personal message! Hope you like it!

I am entering it in these challeges:

2 NEW CHALLENGES

Hiya! Just wanted to post that I have 2...count them 2 posts that you need to scroll down for.
Not only does the new challenge start for Guylou's Inimitability but the next Progressive Challenge on CDAC starts today as well. All the deets are in the posts to follow!

Thank you! Gracias! Mahalo!

No matter what language you speak, the thought behind it is the same!

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance,
chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast,
a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today,
and creates a vision for tomorrow.
                          Melody Beattie

Guylou herself is our host this week. She is a wonderfully creative and has wicked talent!
Her theme this week is Thank You, You're a star! SO...
you must have a star somewhere on the thank you project.
Guylou came up with a few new images that will go very well with this theme...
check them out here!
I chose to use   I felt she went real well with the paper I had decided on
Problem was I had no plain silver/foil look paper...so I made my own!
I embossed it with silver embossing powder and
I think it matched the foil stars on my background paper perfectly!
What do you think?

I kept the color scheme simple to make the image stand out!
You can check out all the deets at the challenge blog!
This challenge starts today and goes until September 29th.
Make sure you have a look at all the DT blogs and have fun!

CDAC Progressive Freebie Challenge! (CDACPC3)

HEY HEY HEY that next challenge is ready to start....have you gotten your images yet? If you did not enter the last challenge then you can buy in! Check it out on the CDAC Progressive Freebie site here.
The theme this time around is fall! For those of you lucky people who are starting to see
some change in the weather...you know what this means....
orange, maroon, deep yellow, sage green....leaves and trees changing...
cactus um nope that's me...no real change in Arizona but you get the drift...FALL!
I used the image Sunflower and Swallowtail by Justinklined
I really love this image, you can do so much with it. I printed the image three times,
cutting the butterfly out of two of them. I colored the sunflower with Copics
and used the Spica pens for the butterflies...trying to get a bit more depth as well as some shine!
I really hope you like it!

Make sure that you look at all the other DT members....they are listed to the left!
This challenge will continue until the end of the month. Make sure you add your name
and picture/blog specific place on the linky. Make sure you have labeled it cdacpc3.

No card..but I have a story!

Yesterday was my big 4-0 B-day...so last week Dave told me to think of where I wanted to go for dinner...well I have been in the mood for steak so we decided to try this new restaurant called the Bone In. I ate like nothing at all yesterday anticipating a delicious meal! Dave made reservations for 6 at 6, hoping that Tyler, our middle kid would be able to get out of football practice early enough to make it! Since I was off yesterday I was ready and waiting...Jenna was home and ready...Dave was picking my mom up on his way home from work...Tyler called and was on his way...and Brandon called and was going to have to meet us there! I was thrilled! The whole family together...the first time in a LONG time.

OK so Brandon swings by the house on his way and since we were still there we all pile into my vehicle and off we go! We get to the restaurant and OMG the BBQ smell was mouth watering...I was starting to salivate it smelled so good. I get out and go to walk around the back of the vehicle and what do I see???? I tarantula! Yes a HUGE tarantula! Like a dinner plate! OK so it wasn't that huge, but when you hate spiders the way I do, it looked that big. So I casually walk around and walk inside.

We get seated, order drinks and some appetizers and we are all talking...Brandon has applied for the Police Department and had an interview yesterday...and finally we decided we were ready to order. The waitress comes over and starts to take my order and CRASH....BAM...SIZZLE...lightning and thunder all over and ZZZTTTT the lights go out! Because no electricity the fans and exhaust are not working and within a few minutes the place is smoked out. Good smelling smoke mind you, but smoke none the less! So we figure we need to go. It is pouring, the street is starting to flood and no lights anywhere. The place is a ways out so there are no street lights anyway but all of the houses are dark. Some of the traffic lights were out and at one spot the fire department had a street blocked because of downed power lines! Luckily as we drove by our neighborhood all the lights were on. And lo and behold the lights of Village Inn were all ablaze! So we all sit and had a wonderful birthday breakfast! It wasn't steak or prime rib but it was good all the same! Best part the whole family was together and we had fun! Thanks for taking the time to read all about my dinner escapades! HUGS!!!

Christmas in July...errr I mean in September!

This is a card that I made with "Father Xmas Digi Stamp 2" from Scrapper's Delights. I love the vintage look of this guy. I used white fluff for the cuffs and edges of the Santa suit and used Copics to color him. The paper was from a digital paper that I have had for years! Hope you like it!

I added some embellishments that I have had forever! I liked that they had a bit of a vintage feel to it as well.

The Early Bird Gets The Worm!

WHEW...these long weekends make me tired! You try and try to cram everything into it and then you end up doing nothing! LOL Lucky me I have tomorrow off to accomplish all I did not get done today!

I finally finished my project for the first CDAC Progressive Challenge of September. The theme was back to school and the images were adorable. I chose to use the bookworm image by Jens Digi Stamps. I thought he was so cute. I duplicated him a few times and added a saying and made it into a bookmark! I am forever losing my bookmarks...kinda like one sock every time you do laundry...I don't know where it goes but it is gone!

ANYWHO here is my little project!

I used Copics to color my little guys and just tied a ribbon on the top! I may laminate it...not sure yet!

I am going to enter this into the CDAC Progressive Challenge! (of course) and here are a few others I would like to enter:

Scrapper's Delights Dragonfly!

Janice at Scrapper's Delights has made a beautiful new kit called "Dragonfly". DO NOT just stop when you see the actual kit.....check out all the extras you can get that go so well with it. I added the kits: Petra, Twiggy, and Mavinda...because you cannot just have Celina all on her own! Fairy's travel in packs! LOL

Look at the vibrancy, the detail, and the quality of what you get when you purchase one of these kits.
The first time I ordered anything, I was truly surprised at the quantity!
You do not get one pose, you get several. AND the prices really cannot be beat.
And I am not just saying that because I am on the DT...
I have bought before and since I became a member!
So you want to see what I made with this kit?????
OK here it is:
I bought several glass candle holders and wanted to decorate them....so I made a candle wrap!
In this picture You can see Celina...there is also a butterfly in the tree but I could not get it to show up very well....Hard to get it all in the picture on a round glass!
Here is Petra:

Now because of paper size I could not get it to fit exactly to over lap...so I came up with what I call a corset close. I punched my holes and laced some skinny black ribbon through it! No glue and no mess!
I have not found the right size candle yet....I want to add some sand to the bottom and use a skinny candle. Well I really hope you like it!

Used PSP to crop and add my characters.

Challenges I would like to enter:

I will add them later.

Vintage Candy Giveaway!

Amy at Papertrails Leaver is having a wonderful blog candy giveaway! You have to check it out...but of course being the mean person I am....I hope I win! LOL Amy went on a European vacation and came back with some major goodies...
Fingers crossed! There is some beautiful things in this candy!

You Gotta Go Back To School!

To enter this challenge anyway!

Back To School is the next challenge at Guylou's Inimitability!
Our wonderful host is none other than Guylou herself! And she has chosen to do a Back to School
themed challenge with a bit of a twist...you must have an apple on your project!
Now G came up with several images that are perfect for this challenge...
check them all out in her store here.
AND check this out!!!!
So even if you don't win the challenge you can get some images for a heck of a great price!!

OK I couldn't decide which one to use, so I made two projects!

Can I be honest here? I actually made two other cards (with the same image)
but was not happy with how they turned out...and then
I realize that time is running out. ARGGGG So I got my head on straight and said to myself
no matter if I like it or not, third time's the charm and I will post that card! LOL So here it is!

I used "Teacher Leah", paper from "Antiquities" by DCWV, ruler tape, mosaic tiles (that I colored over...they were initially silver) and the apple back ground is from Scrapper's Delights.

Now I typed I did two projects...so here is my second attempt!

I used the image "1 + 1". I colored it with Paint Shop Pro, printed it on shrinky dink paper,
cut it out using label 1 from nestabilities and viola my tag for Jenna's backpack!
It is way too dark! I know. And I burned the one edge...but hey
it's the first time I have made a shrinky dink in years! LOL
It's a great idea to make tags this way (if you are better at it than me)...
I got the idea from the wonderful Gina! Another DT member! Check it outon  her blog.
While you are looking at that make sure you see her take on this challenge, as well all the other DT members (they are listed to the left!)
Our Guest Designer is Kimberly  http://scrap-it-girl.blogspot.com/
Well now comes the part about the rules!
You will find them here.
You have from today until September 15th!
So get on it!
