New Year's To Do List.....

A few months back I got a book called

Mixed Media Paint Box
Weekly Projects for a Year of Creative Exploration

Basically a project a week.
And it is something I want to try to do!

They will be my

Paint Box Projects

Now knowing myself the way I do and knowing
the way life tends to happen....
I may be doing a few of the projects out of order,
a few in the same week or maybe even skip one or two.
Now if I skip one in the book I have made mayself promise
I will come up with something different so I will still
have 52 projects finished at the end of 2013!

I have purchased or gotten together, if I already have the
stuff, the things I need for the first few months of projects.
I have also set it up that I will post every Tuesday the finished project!
Fingers crossed!
HAHAHAHAHA!

The first project is to paint on silk.
So I have bought the required materials...

Silk Fabric
Fluid Acrylic Paint
GAC 900 by Golden
Acrylic Flow Release
(optional..not sure which way I will go)

the other materials I own....

Embroidery Hoop
Brush
Palette Knife

Off we go!

Been Awhile!

Wow, it has been awhile since I posted anything!

I want to apologize that I have not been around commenting on blogs,
facebook or anywhere else!

I am still here! LOL
I have been sick since just after Thanksgiving...
got this crud that seems to stick in the chest and make you feel like you
are going to cough up a lung every few hours!

Anyway...
This post is going to be photo heavy!

I have actual been creating a few things that I could not
post about because they were Christmas presents.

Both were made using mirros, different types of mediums,
and of course all types of odd and ends....

Here is a 12 x 12 mirror that I made for my mom...
These are the flowers, cage, bird and swirls that I painted and spritzed.

I saned the mirror edges after taping one of my grand spellbinder sqyuare dies to the center.
The medium is the one with beads by liquitex. I added peach paint and decided it needed a lot more! SO I used Luminere paint, Donna Salazar ink pads, and distressed inks by Tim Holtz.

All of the diecuts and flowers have embossing powder to give them some shine.

These are the charms I added and of course the bottom
of the brid and cage that I cut out using the die from Sizzix and Tim Holtz.

The fence I die cut and glued together...added some sand with
gold glitter along the bottom to give even more dimension.

Rather than show the one I made for Jenna on this same post
I will add it tomorrow!

Hope you had a fantastic holiday!

Snow Flakes Are Falling!

Only for the latest challenge at
Scrapper's Delights!
This weeks challenge is brought to us by
Miss Janice!
The wonderful and talented owner and artist of Scrapper's Delights!
And the theme is
Snowflakes!

Here is what I came up with...

I used one of the Stargazer Girls.
There is actually a lot of sparkle and glitter on this card!
I just could not get the angle just right!
I created it all digitally, printed it, and added some glitter!
Please check out the Challenge Blog for all the details
and the winner of the last challenge!

Last week was a rough week...
ending with the horrible tradegy that occurred in CT.
My heart goes out to each of those families.
My Christmas wish is to send healing thoughts to each of them.

Let It Snow!

Today starts the latest challenge over at
Miss Gina has chosen SNOW for our theme.
Now living in southern AZ we don't see snow that often.
Today is actually the coldest it's been all winter....58 and rainy!
But sadly no snow in out forcast for awhile! :(

Here is what I came up with using

I used paper from one of my Taylored Expressions kits,
snow flakes (can't see them real well) from Jolee's,
and of course flakes for my snow!
Hope you head over to the challenge blog and
see what the other DT members have created.
And join in on the fun!
There are prizes to win!

2 posts today!

Scrapper's Delights Challenge!

This weeks challenge at Scrapper's Delights is:
I chose to make a tag using one of the adorable angels!

My angel was colored with Copics and glitter!
The background was created by using 2 metal mesh
pieces that I added course paste over...let dry a bit and then removed the mesh.
I sprayed several things on top...over the course of a few hours..
(2 shades of blue fireworks spray, smooch blue, dylusions chocolate,
another brown and gold)
Then used a Donna S mixed media leather color ink pad for the edges.
The flowers were punches that I also spritz and sprayed.
Added a little rhinestone in the center and added
the branches punch for my leaves.
I also had some chipboard pieces that I added---
they came blue and sparkly.

It is a bit more muddy than the I wanted but I like it!

You can see the texture a bit more in these pics!

So what you need to do is get over to the challenge blog and
see what the other DT has done to inspire you
and get your project up on the linky!

Anything Goes and A Wedding!

Sassy Studio Designs
is sponsoring not one but two challenges today!
The first is The Crafty Bloggers Network
their theme is "Anything Goes"
and the second is Card Mania
with the theme "Wedding or Anniversary"

I decided to make a keepsake box for my niece,
who is getting married in January...

I took a plain white box that I bought
at Taylored Expressions.
I used a piece of paper from a wedding kit called
Country Boutique Wedding Papers Mini Kit by Fancy Pants.
I bought that from PartTime Sally.
I distressed the paper, added white gesso,
crackle paste, course pumice paste and an iridescent paint.
I used mod podge over the entire box
and then added the image
and added more mod podge over that.
The images was colored with Copics,
fairy dust paint, and glitter on the veil.
I added rhinestones for her ring and earring.
The charms are from Michael's...
I love the added engagement ring!
The flowers are from Wild Orchid...
the black were white and colored with
black Copic marker.
I sprayed all of them with diamond spritz.

I hope she likes it as much as I liked making it!
